UCD marched on to the Premier Division as they drew away to Longford and ended the Midlanders hopes of promotion.
Longford made things hard on themselves as Kelly allowed O’Connor’s shot from distance squirm under him in the 18th minute.
10 minutes later and it was 2-0. UCD walked through the Longford midfield and defence and set themselves up nicely for a 2v1 situation on Michael Kelly and Yoyo Mahdy slotted the ball low below the on rushing keeper.
UCD controlled the game well but fell asleep in the 58th minute. Dean Dillon was payed through and was left all alone as he toe poked the ball under Sheridan. This gave Longford a new lease of life and they equalised towards the end of the game. McGlade’s corner on the right was knocked in by Dillon.
