The 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games are due to commence in Abu Dhabi tomorrow, Thursday 14th March, following the opening ceremony.
Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Disabilities, Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said;
“I wish all who have travelled to the games the very best of luck.
“Ireland will have 91 athletes competing at the games. Supporting them will be a volunteer management team of 39 and 76 volunteers from Ireland who will assist in the running of the games.
“These games will bring together the largest assembly in 2019 for any sporting event with over 7,000 athletes competing from over 170 countries.
“The competitors are not only athletes but ambassadors of inclusivity.
