Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has welcomed the British Labour Party spokesperson on the North to South Down to engage with local people on the issue of Brexit.
Following the visit, the South Down MP commented:
“I am delighted to have welcomed Tony Lloyd here to South Down today. It is important that the Labour Party hears the views and concerns of local people, including the fishermen of Ardglass, who will suffer the negative impact of Brexit.
“This engagement is in stark contrast to British Government ministers who avoid any contact with alternative views on these issues.
“Today we had a very constructive discussion with the local fishing industry in Ardglass. We particularly focused on the challenges that face the industry in sustaining their livelihoods in the wake of Brexit as well hearing the deep concerns locally about a Conservative government propped up by the DUP in London who care little for indigenous industries or the impact on places like Ardglass.
