Speaking during Organ Donation Week, the party’s Health spokesperson said:
“It’s important for families to discuss registering to become an organ donor.
“It can be a difficult and uncomfortable conversation to have with loved ones but it’s vital that people share their wishes with their families.
“In the event of a death, families give the final consent for organ donation so they need to know the wishes of their loved ones.
“Sinn Féin have long campaigned for improved services around organ donation, namely promoting greater awareness and more training for health care professionals.
“These conversations are central to promoting and ultimately increasing organ donation.”
