Commenting on last night’s developments in Strasbourg, Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Michelle O’Neill said:
“There is no good Brexit for the island of Ireland.
“The people of the North voted against it and do not want it.
“We must ensure that there is no return to a hard border in Ireland and no undermining of the Good Friday Agreement.
“That is what Sinn Féin sought to achieve and the Backstop as contained in the Withdrawal Agreement is the only way to legally guarantee that outcome.
“Sinn Féin will be seeking confirmation from the Taoiseach in the Dáil today that the Withdrawal Agreement and Backstop have not been diminished or diluted in any way.”
