Sinn Féin spokesperson on Water Eoin Ó Broin TD has expressed his anger with the further postponement of Committee Stage of the Water in Public Ownership Bill that was due to take place tomorrow.
Deputy Ó Broin said:
“The Committee Stage of Water in Public Ownership Bill has been delayed yet again at Minister Murphy’s request.
“This is clearly a delaying tactic by the government as they clearly do not want a referendum to ensure water services remain in public ownership.
“This Bill has been deferred for long enough. I cannot understand why any member of the opposition would have conceded to the Minister’s request for a further delay.
“Those Housing Committee members who voted to support the Minister’s request for a further postponement need to explain why they feel it was necessary.”
