Speaking this evening, Teachta O’Reilly said:
“It is incredibly regrettable that 800 women have not been issued with their cervical screening results due to what the HSE has said was an IT issue.
“Indeed, added to this difficult situation was the fact that many of the tests affected were repeat HPV tests, which were being done because previous tests were carried out by Quest Diagnostics in the US were outside of the recommended timeframe.
“It is unfortunate that the CervicalCheck programme has been hit with another body blows as a result of an IT system failure.
“The HSE and the Minister must look into this situation and find out how this IT issue arose and if there are more than 800 women affected. They must also ensure that the affected women are informed of this situation and issued with their results as soon as possible.”
