Deputy Kenny said:
“While Sinn Féin recognises the economic benefit of greyhound racing to the rural community, we have also had grave reservations about some aspects of its operation for many years.
“We have voiced these concerns at the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine, especially when the allocation of state funding is involved.
“I would like to speak to the leadership of Bord na gCon again about the contents of this programme. Any organisation receiving state funding, is answerable for the use of those funds and the running of their operations.
“I will contact the Clerk of the Committee today to request the appearance of Bord na gCon before it.”
