Mary Lou McDonald has confirmed that she received an online death threat with the individual saying he would ‘shoot her dead’. The Sinn Fein leader said “This represents an escalation of targeted online abuse directed at me over the last year. It is totally unacceptable.” She went on to say the threat had been reported to Gardaí and “Ironically, this threat was made while I was hosting a discussion on the need for zero tolerance when it comes to violence against women and girls.”

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee TD welcomed the granting of Irish citizenship to over 3,000 new Irish citizens in three separate ceremonies which took place in the Convention Centre in Dublin. A Dublin student has died in the United States following a kayak accident in Washington. Ella Mills who was studying at Columbia University was kayaking with their club when the tragedy occurred.
